With Mother’s Day coming up, I really wanted to do a thoughtful DIY for the most amazing woman in my life. My mom is such a selfless and loving human being who deserves nothing short of the best. I don’t tell her enough how much she means to me, so, I really want to make her feel special on this day. I am a firm believer that handmade gifts mean so much more than something that is store-bought, which is why I decided to make something I know she will love … homemade chocolates! This DIY is super simple to do and can be easily personalized for your mom! Just pick out what you know she’ll love as a filling and her favorite kind of chocolate and voila! you’ll have a delicious and thoughtful gift for Mom.
So, here’s how to make these easy make your own raspberry chocolates:
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- raspberries (or any filling you choose–pretzels, nuts, toffee, etc. work well!)
- 1 and 1/4 cup of your mom’s favorite kind of chocolate chips
- chocolate sea salt (optional)
- ice cube tray (I used a rubber flower mold which worked great)
- microwaveable bowl
- paintbrush (optional)
Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds (stirring every 30 seconds).
Fill the tray with a layer of chocolate and coat the edges with the melted chocolate. Make sure the edges are completely covered. I used a paintbrush for this part to make sure.
Freeze for 10 minutes.
Remove from freezer. Place a raspberry (or your filling of choice) into each section.
Cover each section with another layer of chocolate. Again, making sure that the edges are completely covered so that the chocolate is sealed.
Sprinkle with chocolate sea salt (I forgot this part so I did it afterward which didn’t work out quite as well). Freeze for 10 minutes.
Obviously, you’ll have to taste-test one to make sure they turned out perfectly. Then, wrap them up for that amazing woman in your life! Let me know in the comments how yours turned out and how you personalized them for your mom 🙂
